An upper-level disturbance interacting with a stalled frontal boundary along the Ohio River will bring an early season snowfall to portions of central Illinois late tonight into Wednesday morning. A light rain/snow mixture will develop along and west a Rushville to Minonk line this evening, then will change to mostly snow later tonight into Wednesday morning. Total snow accumulations will range from 2 to 3 inches across this area. While ground temperatures remain warm, air temperatures will bottom out near freezing overnight resulting in slick spots on many secondary roads, bridges, and overpasses. As a result, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Illinois River Valley through Wednesday morning. Further east, a cold rain is expected across the remainder of central and southeast Illinois.
