
On Tuesday, 1/7/2020, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Bloomington Police officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 600 block of IAA Drive for an armed robbery. It was reported that a man entered the hotel with a gun, demanded money from an adult employee, and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers responded and were unable to locate the suspect. No one was injured during this incident. Incident report #20200282.
Hours later, on Wednesday, 1/8/2020, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Bloomington officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 2000 block of Rainbow Avenue for an unrelated disorderly conduct call for service. During the course of the disorderly conduct investigation, an officer observed a male, later identified as Jarrod E. Williams, holding a pistol in his hand.
Ultimately officers were able to place Williams into custody. While officers were taking custody of Williams, he physically resisted their arrest and was also tased. Absent the abrasions from the taser probes, Williams suffered no additional injuries. A BPD officer sustained a minor hand injury during the arrest. A look-alike firearm was recovered from the arrest.
After further investigation, Jarrod E. Williams, 40, of Bloomington, was arrested for the aforementioned armed robbery and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer with Officer Injury. Williams is being held at the McLean County Jail. No bond information is available at this time. Incident report #20200293.
