The McLean County Republicans unanimously reelected Connie Beard as Chairman of their party. The election was part of the 2020 county convention held through a virtual online site Wednesday night.
Beard has been a resident of McLean County for 32 years; is a licensed Realtor and an artistic director for a local student theater company. She has been involved in local politics over 12 years; serving on campaigns for Erika Harold, Darin LaHood and her son, Jacob Beard. This will be her second term of office. “I am very excited about the team of board members who will help in the coming election season”, says Beard.
The executive officers for the party include: Vice Chairman- Norma Brown, Treasurer- Judy Tovey, Secretary- Bruce Hany. The board also consists of Vice Division Chairs; Scott Preston of Normal, Ryan Scritchlow of Bloomington North, Jim Snyder of Bloomington South, George Wendt of County West and Brandon Hepner of County East.
Beard said, “Our by-laws allow me to appoint up to 7 Vice Chairs at Large to serve on the board. I am pleased to be able to appoint a full slate.” Appointed Vice Chairs at large include: Jordan Baker, Andy Byars, Randy Butts, Jim Fisher, Ann Sullivan, Ross Webb and Roy Willan.
Included in the election process on Wednesday was the selection of 15 voting delegates to the State Republican Convention scheduled for June 12, 13 in Peoria. These delegates will help to form the party platform and fill committees for the Illinois Republican party. “We know this coming year will be a challenge but we have a membership that continues to grow with every week and an expanding volunteer base that is eager to hit the campaign trail as soon as our current restrictions are lifted”, stated Beard.
