
(WMAY) — Governor JB Pritzker is trying to reassure the public about the need for, and benefits of, an expansive contact tracing program to identify people who’ve been exposed to COVID-19.
Resistance to the effort is growing on social media, where people complain the program is too intrusive and an invasion of privacy. The high-tech system includes an app for patients who test positive and their contacts to direct them to available help. Pritzker says it’s necessary to find out who has the virus so that its spread can be slowed and eventually stopped.
St. Clair and Lake Counties will serve as the first two locations for a pilot program that will provide a dry run of the statewide contact tracing effor
