Illinois businesses won’t be facing the possibility of misdemeanor charges for reopening in violation of state guidelines.
The state Department of Public Health says it is withdrawing the emergency rule implemented last week aimed at putting some teeth behind Governor JB Pritzker’s business restrictions imposed because of coronavirus.
Some members of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules had wanted a vote on whether that rule should be kept in place, but the decision to withdraw it made that vote unnecessary.
