More than 100 sheriffs in Illinois are speaking out about a t-shirt available on Amazon.com.
The t-shirt drawing “sincere disappointment and disgust” from the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association reads, “Blue Lives Murder.”
Illinois Sheriffs’ Association executive director Jim Kaitschuk says he understands the right to freedom of speech, but the shirt only furthers division in the country.
“The sale of products like this does nothing to promote positive change, but merely fans the flames of antagonists set to do harm to all of the rights and views we so proudly protect. We would respectfully ask that Amazon partner with all of us to help better engage our communities in a positive fashion that promotes trust and relationship building than one that clearly looks to tear at the fabrics on which we all believe.”
The organization is asking Amazon to promote more inclusive values that encourage trust and relationship building.
