As our communities continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, Easterseals remains committed to meeting the dynamic needs of both the families we serve and our entire community. With multiple school districts in Central Illinois moving to all e-learning for the Fall 2020 semester, Timber Pointe Outdoor Center is launching TPOC-U.
“TPOC-U blends the fun of our Summer Adventure Camp with the e-learning schedules set by each school district. We are focused on providing students, Grades K-7 of all abilities, with a healthy balance of distance learning and outdoor adventures, while providing parents with peace of mind” said Allen McBride, Director of Easterseals Timber Pointe Outdoor Center.
Timber Pointe Outdoor Center has successfully hosted their summer Adventure Day Camps during the ongoing pandemic by developing strict activity guidelines, practicing social distancing and limiting group sizes. TPOC-U staff is experienced in COVID19 safety protocols and supporting the individual needs of each child.
Counselors will provide educational support and monitor each student’s remote learning, while also finding ways to engage and empower them with outdoor adventures and activities that keep them moving throughout the day. Camp activities include canoeing, fishing, arts and crafts, sports and games, archery, science, music, dance, cooking, campfire circle, nature hikes, talent shows, sensory play and more.
The first session will begin Aug. 31, and run Monday-Friday, 7:20 a.m. – 5 p.m., through Oct. 2. The second session begins Oct. 5 and runs Monday-Friday, 7:20 a.m. – 5 p.m., through Nov. 6. Timber Pointe Outdoor Center will continue to evaluate the need of additional sessions alongside the school district schedules.
The cost per child starts at $275 per week, and individual day options are available. Financial assistance is available thanks to the generous support of those that contributed the Timber Pointe Emergency Fund Campaign.
