McLean County Sheriff Jon Sandage releases the following information in reference to the arrest of a subject for kidnapping out of Ohio and the safe recovery of a 5-year-old kidnapping victim:
On Friday November 12th, 2021 at approximately 1930 hours, McLean County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle on 1200 North Rd between 750 East and 900 East Rd near Stanford Il. The vehicle was described as a silver van, was parked along a field entrance with a male in the vehicle.
Stanford Police arrived on scene first and upon running the vehicles registration plate, it was learned that there was an outstanding Kidnapping Warrant out of Ohio associated with the vehicle and an associated Amber Alert also from Ohio. Stanford police observed a male occupant apparently asleep in the driver’s seat. A young female child was located in the rear passenger area of the van and was identified as the kidnapped victim from Jackson Township Ohio.
The suspect was quickly taken into custody without incident Sheriff’s Deputies as well as an officer from the Danvers Police Department arrived to assist and the 5-year-old victim was safely removed from the vehicle.
Deputies took protective custody of the minor female who was the child listed in the Amber Alert and she was transported by rescue to OSF St. Joseph’s Medical Center for evaluation.
The suspect, Jonathan L. Stinnett M/W 36 years of age, was transported to the McLean County Sheriff’s Office for interview and then booked into the McLean County Detention Facility on the Kidnapping Warrant. The McLean County Sheriff’s Office continue to work with the Canton Ohio Police Department, FBI and US Marshals Fugitive Task Force on the investigation and all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
