This district was given an “F” when it comes to fairness…that’s the current 13th Congressional District 13, held by Republican Rodney Davis. One candidate says she has what it takes and that voters are fed up with Democrat policies.
Regan Deering, who is running in the newly drawn 13th, will be in Champaign, IL tonight from 6-8pm at Champaign County GOP meet and greet at Jupiter’s At The Crossing.
“A wonderful opportunity for candidates at all levels up and down the ticket from local to state, to federal, to visit with voters and talk about their issues and their concerns and why they feel like they’re the best candidate,” said Deering. “A big concern of mine was parental choice, being a plaintiff in the lawsuit against the governor Pritzker and his executive overreach through his mandates that forced our kids to mask up in school. Taking that passion that I have for being able to fight for those individual freedoms and values has really led me to seeking the seat.”
Deering said the 13th is a winnable district.
“It’s very gerrymandered. The Democrats in control of the legislature drew this map for a democratic individual that has ties to Pritzker, Madigan, and Nikki Budzinski, who just most recently moved back here from the Biden Office of Management & Budget office and landed herself in Springfield,” said Deering. “They we’re a little overconfident in drawing this map. I mean, they’ve tried to pick up a lot of these urban core areas about 47% of the 13th congressional district is down in the Metro-East, which is heavily democratic as well as Champaign county, kind of at the other end is… democratic, but voters are not happy with Democrat policy right now… it’s affecting all of us.”
Bobby Rush is an American politician, activist and pastor who is the U.S. representative for Illinois’s 1st congressional district, serving in Congress for almost three decades. A civil rights activist during the 1960s, Rush co-founded the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party. Deering ran into Rush and she claims that he said he, like everybody, is tired of procedure and these lockdowns.
“These mandates, I mean, it’s just hitting home. He said, ‘and I’m a Democrat,'” said Deering.
Deering said she listened to Stephanie Trussell a lieutenant governor pick for gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey, talking at St. Clair County last night and said Trussell brought to light a lot of what she, as a candidate, plans to work against.
“She was talking about homeschooling her kids and then having a variety of just public school experiences.,” said Deering. “And she said, ‘you should see what’s in the sex education bill. You should see what’s in teacher training…’ Having been a teacher myself, I went online to the state website and the strike-through language and the addition of new language… it’s in there, you got to go to like subsection 17 part “Q,” and which of course makes it impossible for your everyday mom or dad, who’s interested in finding out for themselves, the transparency is just mind boggling to me…”
