UPDATE: Normal PD Patrol and Criminal Investigations began an investigation into the events leading up to the fatal gunshot incident on Sunday morming at 203 Susan Drive with assistance from the McLean County Coroner’s Office. After reviewing the preliminary autopsy report, interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence, it was determined the victim died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder identified him as Rashad R. White, 29, from Rantoul.
ORIGINAL STORY:
One man is dead after a shooting Sunday morning at 203 Susan Drive at the Candlewood Suites in Normal.
Normal police, in as statement, said officers responded at 3:40am on Sunday Officers responded to a person shot at the Candlewood Suites. Officers observed a male in the parking lot upon arrival and quickly assisted in rendering aid to the injured victim along with NFD.
The victim is described as a 29-year-old male who was transported to a local hospital. The male was later pronounced deceased. The victim’s name is being withheld, pending notification of family.
Normal PD Patrol and Criminal Investigations have begun an investigation into the events leading up to the incident.
At this time, there is no threat to the public as this was an isolated incident.
