As summer comes to an end, Bloomington Parks & Rec. is gearing up for an exciting weekend filled with family-friendly fun and community spirit. From August 12th to August 13th, we invite all residents to join us for three remarkable events that promise to bring joy and support to the local community.
Ice Cream Social and School Drive for BHS (Saturday, August 12, 12-3 PM)
On Saturday, August 12, join us for the annual Ice Cream Social at Miller Park Zoo, a delightful event to bid farewell to summer in style! From 12 PM to 3 PM, we invite all our visitors to indulge in tasty ice cream cups, free, with paid admission (while supplies last). It’s a sweet treat to savor the last days of summer with your loved ones.
The Ice Cream Social also presents an excellent opportunity to give back to the community. Miller Park Zoo is hosting a School Drive to support Bloomington High School students in need. As a token of our appreciation for your generosity, we will provide free kids’ admission to the Zoo (limit 2 kids per adult). Bring your family, and have a blast with games, face painting, and ice cream!

Back to School Bash with Miller Park Paddleboats (Sunday, August 13, 12-5 PM)
On Sunday, August 13, we are hosting the ultimate Back to School Bash in partnership with Miller Park Paddle Boats! Our dedicated staff is gearing up to head back to school and is ready to celebrate this transition with all our community members.
The Back to School Bash promises a day of excitement on the serene waters of Miller Park Lake. Bring one item from the Back-to-School List, and you’ll receive FREE admission to the paddle boats! All the supplies collected during this event will be donated to support District 87 elementary students.
Back to School Bash at Holiday Pool (Sunday, August 13, 12-6:30 PM)
On Sunday, August 13, head over to Holiday Pool for the ultimate Back to School Bash! To make this event even more special, we are offering a fantastic deal: Bring two items from the Back-to-School Supply List, and you’ll get half off admission! It’s the perfect chance to have a blast while giving back, as all the supplies collected during this event will be donated to support District 87 elementary students.
The Back-to-School List includes items such as colored pencils, safety scissors, rulers, crayons, #2 pencils, glue sticks, colored markers, highlighters, packs of erasers, notebook paper, two-pocket folders, zipper pencil pouches, 3” ring binders, loose leaf paper, pens (black), markers, and spiral notebooks.
