The Heartland Community College Foundation is hosting a night of stand-up comedy to support programs and scholarships.
HCC Funnyraiser Comedy Night will be held at the College on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The night includes local amateur comedians, a dollar-a-vote for the Crowd Favorite award, a silent auction, complimentary snacks at intermission, and beverages for purchase. All proceeds for the night will go towards the Foundation Funding Priorities (FFPs) including scholarships for working adults, family meal program support for children and parents in campus daycare, and youth scholarships for the Challenger Learning Center.
Led by the emcee Joe Strupek, the show includes sets from local comedians: Habitat for Humanity Development Director Jolene Aldus, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Ed Kolb, data scientist Abby Scott, pastor and professor Jeff Williams, as well as Heartland’s own Chris Lacky (Career and Technical Education), and Richard Seehuus (English).
The show will be held in the Astroth Community Education Center (ACEC) on the Heartland Normal Campus (1500 W. Raab Road).
“The Funnyraiser is one of the most unique fundraising events you’ll find in our community. It’s that great experience of leaving a night feeling good because of how much you laughed, but feeling even better knowing whom you helped by coming to the event,” said Chris Downing, Foundation Executive Director. “Funds raised by the event create opportunities for Heartland college students, support families with food insecurity, and provide STEM experiences for bright younger minds. You’ll never feel better about having a good time.”
