There are now three candidates vying for the town’s top executive position.
Kathleen Lorenz declared her candidacy on Monday, motivated by her “deep pride in Normal.”
“My pragmatic approach as a council member uniquely positions me to lead Normal with a fresh perspective,” Lorenz said in her announcement. “I am committed to enhancing engagement with businesses and residents while fostering a collaborative spirit with our community partners.”
In her announcement, Lorenz expressed her pride in Normal: “I proudly share that I am from Normal, Illinois. I celebrate our region’s rich history in agriculture and insurance, our esteemed institutions like Illinois State University and Heartland Community College, and our community’s role as the home of Rivian’s flagship electric vehicle manufacturing site.”
Joining Lorenz in pursuit of the mayor’s post in current mayor Chris Koos and fellow town council member Chemberly Harris.
