Fur sales ban vote fails
The Chicago City Council voted against a ban on the sale of fur in the city during a meeting on Wednesday.
Ald. Raymond Lopez and animal rights activists argued the proposed ban was necessary to help prevent cruelty toward animals. Lopez said that such bans have been on the rise across the country as over a dozen other cities and the state of California have already banned new fur sales.
Decatur schools dealing with bed bugs
The Decatur Public School District is dealing with bed bugs at one of its schools.
School officials said the buildings and grounds staff will inspect and thoroughly clean all classrooms and learning spaces at one of its school buildings. They urged parents to check their children’s belongings for bed bugs.
Officials, who would not identify which school was affected, said they did not know the exact source of the bed bugs.
Pot pizza pie planned for Pi Day
A Chicago pizza shop and a cannabis dispensary are joining forces to make a record-setting cannabis-infused pizza to celebrate Pi Day on March 14.
Pizza parlor Paulie Gee’s is teaming up with Ivy Hall, Chicago’s first social equity dispensary, to attempt to make the world’s largest cannabis-infused pizza.
They plan to make a 64-by-32 pizza pie that will serve what they said will be 50 perfectly dosed slices at the dispensary.
