The City of Bloomington’s Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Dust2Glory Fitness and Certified Spartan SGX Coach Dustin Webb, is excited for this year’s Hill of a Race Obstacle Run, taking place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, with the first waves beginning rain or shine at 8:00 AM at Ewing Park II in Bloomington, Illinois.
The three-mile run will include at least 25 obstacles focusing on lifting, carrying, climbing, crawling, and tests of agility and balance. This ages 7+ race is the ultimate outdoor fitness challenge, with a course designed for both recreational enthusiasts and competitive racers. The race will feature four competitive waves and 10 recreational waves throughout the morning.
Following the success of last year’s race, this will be the second year for the Hill of a Race – Endurance Challenge. This challenge tests how far contestants can run the course from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with the winner determined by the total number of laps completed. Endurance Challenge participants will be allowed to skip obstacle lines while running through the recreational waves.
“The Hill of a Race obstacle run has become a popular event for families and competitive athletes alike,” said Neal McKenry, Program Manager, adding, “The Parks team is excited to once again partner with the talented Dust2Glory staff as we continue to grow this fun event.”
With recreational, competitive, and Endurance Challenge waves, this is a great event for everyone—from families and beginners to serious obstacle runners. Youths aged 7–13 must participate with a registered adult.
Registration is open now at hillofarace.com through August 13. There will be no day-of or onsite registration.
Race packets, including a race bib and t-shirt (while supplies last), can be picked up on-site the morning of the race at Ewing Park II.
