Bomb threat made at hotel where Texas Dems staying
Illinois U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth says she is disturbed by dangerous threats made against Texas elected officials in Illinois.
Duckworth posted a statement on X after a bomb threat was reported Wednesday morning at a hotel in St. Charles, Illinois, where Texas Democrats are staying. Police said about 400 people were evacuated and no device was found.
Naturalization ceremony at Wrigley
977 people are set to become United States citizens at the Chicago ballpark known as the Friendly Confines.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois will host a naturalization ceremony at Wrigley Field Thursday for candidates from 109 countries. U.S. Magistrate Judge Laura McNally is scheduled to preside.
Fraud prevention ceremony
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois is partnering with the Sparta Senior Center to present a fraud prevention seminar on Wednesday, August 20.
The presentation highlights information on online scams, fraud schemes targeting seniors and details on federal cases prosecuted in southern Illinois. The event is free and open to the public.
