McLean County taxpayers will soon begin receiving notices of assessed value changes and township equalization factors for the 2025 assessment year, Chief County Assessment Officer Timothy Jorczak announced this week. The notices, which affect property taxes payable in 2026, will be mailed in phases beginning next week.
The new bi-fold mailer will consolidate information into a single document, including each parcel’s current and prior assessed value, details about the property tax cycle, and contact information for township assessors. It will also provide links to resources on exemptions and the assessment complaint process. Taxpayers have 30 days from the date of publication to file a complaint with the McLean County Board of Review.
To help residents better understand the process, the Supervisor of Assessments Office will host public information sessions across the county:
-
Aug. 28, McLean – Mount Hope-Funks Grove Parks District Building, 6 p.m.
-
Sept. 4, LeRoy – Living Well United Center, 6 p.m.
-
Sept. 8, Lexington – Lexington Community Center, 6 p.m.
-
Sept. 16, Normal – Normal Community Activity Center, 6 p.m.
Representatives from township offices, along with staff from the Treasurer’s and Clerk’s offices, will be available to answer questions.
“We know property taxes can be confusing, so we take every chance we can to help de-mystify the process,” Jorczak said.
Taxpayers with questions can contact the Supervisor of Assessments Office at 309-888-5130 or assessor@mcleancountyil.gov.
