A male was critically injured Tuesday afternoon after becoming pinned between a semi-trailer and a loading dock at the Rivian Automotive warehouse.
At approximately 1:40 p.m., the Normal Fire Department responded to the Rivian Automotive Warehouse at 301 W. Kerrick Road for a report of a male pinned between a loading dock and a semi-trailer. Upon arrival, firefighters located the patient still trapped between the trailer and the dock with critical injuries. Firefighters worked to free the patient, who had been pinned for approximately 20 minutes. After being extricated, the patient was immediately loaded into a Normal Fire Department ambulance and transported to Carle Bromenn Medical Center in critical condition.
A LifeFlight helicopter was requested due to the severity of the injuries; however, the patient was transported by ground ambulance prior to the aircraft’s arrival.
Fire crews cleared the scene shortly before 3 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
