Miller Park Zoo announces the hiring of its new director, PaulBouseman.
Bouseman was recently the Evansville Indiana Parks and Recreation Deputy Director. Prior to that post, he was the Deputy Director of Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden.Bouseman will start at Miller Park Zoo on June 15, 2026.

“I am honored to take the helm of an institution with 135 years of commitment to wildlife
conservation and education,” said Bouseman, adding, “Institutions like Miller Park Zoo
thrive because of the dedication of the volunteers, members, advocates and donors who
recognize the importance the Zoo has in Bloomington and the Central Illinois community,
I am excited to work with them all as we continue the mission of the Zoo as an
accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).”
“Our staff is energized by this appointment. Paul brings with him the understanding of
the science, the animals and the people who dedicate their lives to this work,” said Eric
Veal, Director of the City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation Department. “I also want to
thank Interim Zoo Director Norah Fletchall for her leadership and dedication during this
transition period. Her steady guidance and commitment to the Zoo, its staff, and our
guests helped position Miller Park Zoo for continued success as we welcome Paul to
Bloomington.”
Miller Park Zoo, a facility within the City of Bloomington’s Parks & Recreation
department, is located at 1020 S. Morris Avenue, Bloomington, and is open each day
from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
