Connect Transit and Heartland Community College are launching a new bus route connecting Pontiac and Normal beginning in mid-August, just in time for the fall semester.
The route will operate Monday through Thursday, leaving the Heartland Pontiac Center near the Pontiac Public Library at 7 a.m. and arriving at the college’s Normal campus by 8 a.m. Return trips will depart Normal at 4 p.m. and arrive in Pontiac at 5 p.m. Stops include Chenoa, Lexington and Towanda.
Heartland students can ride free with a valid student ID. Officials say the new route will improve access to classes for students along the Route 66 corridor while reducing transportation barriers. Buses also offer free Wi-Fi so students can study during the trip.
