The City of Bloomington will launch its new CodeRED emergency notification system on Monday, July 27, giving residents another way to receive important community alerts.
The free, voluntary service will send notifications by phone, text or email for emergencies such as severe weather, water main breaks and public safety incidents. Residents can also sign up for updates on road construction, utility work and other activities affecting selected locations.
Residents may register multiple addresses, choose their preferred notification methods and customize the types of alerts they receive. The city says registration information will only be used for CodeRED notifications and will not be shared or used for marketing. Beginning July 27, emergency updates will also be identified on the city’s social media channels using #BloomAlert.
