(The Center Square) – Teamsters say they have won an industry-leading tentative agreement for 11,000 mechanics and related employees with Chicago-based United Airlines.
The union said the deal runs from 2026 through 2030 and includes significant gains across wages, retirement, job protections and working conditions.
The voting period for Teamsters at United is between Aug. 28 and Sept. 18.
ILLINOIS TAX COLLECTIONS RISE
According to a monthly briefing from the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability, state revenue increased 4.1% in July over the same month in 2025.
The gains were driven by a 65.2% increase in corporate income tax collections and a 12.9% increase in sales tax revenue.
FORMER PEORIA MAN SENTENCED FOR METH DISTRIBUTION
A former Peoria man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for unlawful distribution of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, law enforcement seized about 52 grams of meth and multiple firearms and ammunition while executing a search warrant at the home of Darrell J. Lindsey, 44.
Prosecutors said Lindsey was also implicated in the March 2021 seizure of about 9 pounds of meth from a hotel room in Morton.
JUVENILE DETENTION CENTERS GET $12,000 FOR MURALS
The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts announced Wednesday the Illinois Arts Council has awarded $12,000 to five juvenile detention centers through the fiscal year 2026 creative projects grant.
Juvenile centers in Kane, Lake, McLean, Peoria and Winnebago counties received funds to contract with local artists to create youth-led murals.
FINANCIAL CONDITIONS INDEX HOLDS STEADY
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s National Financial Conditions Index was unchanged at –0.55 in the week ending Aug. 7, suggesting steady financial conditions.
