The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southwestern McLean County until 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Officials say thunderstorms have produced 4 to 7 inches of rain, with flash flooding already occurring. Several roads have been closed and vehicles have become stranded. The Little Kickapoo Creek south of Bloomington toward Heyworth has risen well beyond its banks.
The warning includes Bloomington, Normal, Le Roy, Heyworth, Danvers, Downs, McLean, Stanford, Ellsworth, Central Illinois Regional Airport and Moraine View State Park, as well as portions of Interstates 39, 55 and 74.
The National Weather Service says the flooding is life-threatening. Drivers are urged to never attempt to cross flooded roads and to move to higher ground if flooding occurs
