A 23-year-old Normal man has been sentenced to 4½ years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a person in a position of trust and authority.
Brady J. Stoewer was sentenced Aug. 14 following an investigation that began June 16, 2024, when Normal police received a report of criminal sexual abuse involving a juvenile. Investigators later identified additional juvenile victims.
Police said the investigation identified Stoewer, then an employee at a local tumbling and cheer facility, as the suspect. The facility owner terminated his employment after evidence of a crime was verified.
Stoewer was arrested Dec. 17, 2024, on a McLean County warrant.
He originally faced 14 counts of criminal sexual assault involving victims ages 13 to 17, four counts of criminal sexual abuse involving a victim under 18 and a person in a position of trust, two counts of grooming, and one count of child pornography involving the solicitation of a person under 18.
The charges were reviewed by the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office and presented to a McLean County grand jury.
