The Tazewell County Veterans Assistance Commission is partnering with Pekin-based Trouble-Free Heating, Cooling & Plumbing to expand education, skilled-trades training and employment opportunities for local veterans.
The partnership is designed to connect veterans and their families with resources that can lead to civilian careers, particularly in HVAC, plumbing and related skilled trades.
TCVAC Superintendent CJ Pulcher says the initiative will help veterans transitioning from military service, changing careers, developing new skills or seeking employment close to home.
Trouble Free General Manager Dean Covey, a U.S. Navy veteran, says military experience often provides veterans with skills such as discipline, teamwork, accountability and problem-solving that can transfer to civilian careers.
Company owner Dave Osborn says the partnership is intended to provide practical opportunities rather than simply express support for veterans.
The initiative will focus on three areas: education, skilled-trades training and employment. Organizers say the goal is to establish an ongoing connection between veterans, available resources and local career opportunities.
The Tazewell County Veterans Assistance Commission assists qualifying veterans and their families with state and federal benefits, education resources, employment assistance and other support.
Trouble Free Heating, Cooling & Plumbing is headquartered in Pekin and serves communities throughout Central Illinois.
