A McLean County jury has found Jayesh Patel, 54, formerly of Bloomington, guilty on all six counts in a child sexual assault and abuse case stemming from a 2025 investigation, according to the Normal Police Department.
The investigation began in April 2025 after a child disclosed possible sexual abuse. A Normal police detective conducted a forensic interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center, where the child disclosed multiple incidents of sexual assault. Detectives gathered additional evidence that led to criminal charges.
Patel was arrested Oct. 25, 2025, on a McLean County warrant. Following a jury trial, he was found guilty Oct. 16, 2026, of three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of sexual exploitation of a child.
Patel is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 4, 2027. He reportedly faces a prison sentence ranging from 18 to 187 years.
The Normal Police Department said it remains committed to investigating crimes against children, protecting vulnerable victims and holding offenders accountable.
