Congresswoman pushes for citizens-only census
U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, R-IL, led 44 members of Congress on Friday in a letter to U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, endorsing proposed Census Bureau reforms and calling for additional measures to ensure the 2030 census only counts U.S. citizens for congressional apportionment.
The letter said the U.S. saw historic levels of illegal immigration during the Biden administration which “contributed greatly” to the country’s skewed apportionment and enumeration.
Aside from Miller, no member of the Illinois congressional delegation signed the letter.
