(The Center Square) – The Democratic Party of Illinois has claimed victory in a sweep of elections for statewide offices. In addition to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s victory in the gubernatorial election, incumbent Democrats claimed wins in races for attorney general, secretary of state and state treasurer.
State Rep. Margaret Croke, D-Chicago, is set to become the next Illinois comptroller.
“Margaret Croke is an extraordinary public servant, and she will be an excellent state comptroller. She understands that responsible fiscal stewardship matters for all Illinoisans, and she will fight every day to do right by working families,” Pritzker said in a congratulatory statement released on Tuesday night.
With her projected win over Republican Bryan Drew, Croke will replace current Comptroller Susana Mendoza, D-Chicago, who decided not to seek reelection and is instead running for mayor of Chicago in February 2027.
Attorney General Kwame Raoul had a massive lead on Tuesday night over Republican challenger Bob Fioretti.
Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias also held a seemingly insurmountable lead over Republican Diane Harris.
State Treasurer Michael Frerichs declared victory before 9 p.m. in his campaign against Republican Max Solomon.
